Education Policies
GAAR sponsors a variety of events and programs that support the professional development of members. Non-members are invited to attend programs approved by the New Mexico Real Estate Commission (NMREC) or the New Mexico Board of Real Estate Appraisers. A non-member registration fee may apply.
Payments
Attendees must pay a fee to attend some of the varied programs, events, or classes sponsored by GAAR. In these cases, the registration process is not complete until payment is received. If applicable, certificates to attendees will be available only after payments have been processed.
Refunds
Refunds will be offered in the following situations:
1 If GAAR cancels a class.
2. If GAAR receives written notification at least 48 hours (2 business days) prior to the date of the class that a registrant will not be attending, the registrant will receive a full refund.
3. If GAAR receives written notification at least 24 hours prior to the beginning of the class that a registrant will not be attending, the registrant may request, in writing, a tuition credit.
Failure to notify GAAR in writing, at least 24 hours prior to the beginning of the class that a registrant will not be attending will result in forfeiture of registration fee.
Modifications to the full refund policy can be made to accommodate unique circumstances of an event or class (i.e. speaker imposes a significant cancellation penalty; registration fees are not collected by GAAR, etc.) Modifications to the normal policy will be communicated to potential registrants.
Continuing Education Class Requirements
Classes offering CE will be administered in accordance with the New Mexico Real Estate Commission (NMREC) rules and Regulations. Registrants are responsible for arriving by the start time of the class and conforming to all break periods (including lunch) as defined by the instructor. Instructors determine time and duration of class breaks to ensure that the length of the class meets all NMREC requirements. CE credits will not be provided to any person who does not meet the attendance requirements of the NMREC.
Classes will begin promptly at their scheduled times. Those arriving more than 10 minutes after the scheduled start time may be allowed to attend the class, but will not be eligible to receive continuing education credit.
Class Cancellation
GAAR makes every effort to hold events and classes that are scheduled and promoted. However, GAAR does reserve the right to cancel any class or program if circumstances necessitate this action.
Inclement Weather
In the event a class must be delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather and time does not permit GAAR to notify registrants through email, a special message will be posted on the homepage of the GAAR website. You may also check the status blog, http://gaarstatus.blogspot.com/, for information.
Requesting CE Certificate Reprints
GAAR provides class participants, who have met all requirements of registration, payment, attendance, and the specific program, etc. with CE certificates. CE certificates can be accessed by participants the day following class through the member’s portal. Non-members can also be provided a username and password to access their certificate through the portal. It is the responsibility of the class participants to retain their CE certificates in a safe location.GAAR provides class participants, who have met all requirements of registration, payment, attendance, and the specific program, etc. with CE certificates.
